Clinical Advisor - Dr. Albert D. Cuellar

Albert D. Cuellar, M.D. graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Bioengineering. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. After obtaining certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery he completed a fellowship in Adult Joint Reconstruction at Presbyterian Hospital/Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Cuellar specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery. He has done thousands of these procedures ranging from routine to highly complex cases. With his engineering background, he has consulted with several medical companies regarding implant and instrument design. He designed computerized surgical navigation for knee replacement surgery and was involved in cutting-edge robotic surgical technology. He has designed, written, and implemented software applications to help streamline his medical practice.

Dr. Cuellar has been recognized for several years as a Texas Monthly’s Super Doctor. He was also recognized by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery during the 2013 Annual Meeting when he received 1st Place Poster Winner in classification and overall for his study on, “The Economic Conundrum of Private Practice Orthopaedic Surgery.” Recently he published an article, “The Economic Dichotomy Between the Healthcare and Digital Technology Industries.” Dr. Cuellar is passionately dedicated to his profession and continues to find ways of making healthcare better, more accessible, and economical.

Clinical Advisor - Dr. Stefan Kreuzer

Stefan Kreuzer, M.D., MSc. As a board-certified and fellowship-trained joint replacement surgeon, Stefan Kreuzer, MD, has pioneered the development in Minimally-Invasive and Computer-Assisted hip and knee replacement surgery. He is actively involved in training and has been invited to lecture and demonstrate his surgical techniques for surgeons throughout the United States, Asia, and Europe. Dr. Kreuzer is currently on multiple design teams for the development of the next generation of knee and hip implants, and acts as a consultant to many device companies to assist them with further advancing care for patients. With many research and academic interests in addition to his clinical practice, he has devoted his career to improving the quality-of-life for the patient in need of joint replacement surgery.

He also serves on several medical advisory boards, most notably as a board member of ISTA and as the chairman of the Masters Course on Anterior Hip Replacement Surgery with ICJR in Houston.

A native of Switzerland, Dr. Kreuzer moved to the United States in 1983. He graduated from medical school at the University of Texas in San Antonio in 1995 and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He then undertook a fellowship in Adult Joint Reconstruction at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 2001.

Dr. Kreuzer has performed over 4,000 anterior hip replacements and is one of the very few experts in the world to also perform revision total hip replacement through the anterior approach. Dr. Kreuzer is also a world expert on robotic joint replacement surgery; he was on the development team of the MAKO robotic system for anterior hip replacement and MAKO total knee replacement and was one of three surgeons to participate in the initial FDA approval study. He is currently working with the next generation of robotic surgery with Think Surgical, as a principal investigator in their FDA-approved clinical trial for total knee replacement.

Dr. Kreuzer is also revolutionizing the field of outpatient total joint surgery by working to develop care paths and protocols to allow minimally invasive joint replacement surgery to be performed in the outpatient setting, with the aim of quicker recovery, fewer complications, and quicker return to a functional lifestyle. He is working with software companies to develop a care path with the help of activity monitors and smartphones to facilitate a quicker road to recovery.

Clinical Advisor - Dr. Eric Slotkin

Eric Slotkin, DO is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in complex total joint arthroplasty of the hip, knee, and shoulder. Dr. Slotkin works with Orthopaedic Associates of Reading, Ltd., where patients in Reading and West Reading, Pennsylvania, receive the most advanced orthopaedic care. Dr. Slotkin is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency requirements at PinnacleHealth System and Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania. He completed additional fellowship training in adult reconstruction and joint replacement at the internationally renowned Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.

Dr. Slotkin has numerous peer-reviewed journal publications focusing on patient-specific techniques and minimally invasive surgeries to improve patient function and expedite recovery. In addition to his surgical practice, he frequently serves as teaching faculty for various joint reconstruction courses, helping other surgeons with techniques and technologies on a national scale.

Skilled in cutting-edge arthroplasty techniques, Dr. Slotkin’s surgical interests include minimally invasive, direct anterior intermuscular hip replacement surgery; complex primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery; hip preservation surgery; and both primary and reverse total shoulder replacement surgeries.

Dr. Slotkin is certified by The American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

Clinical Advisor - Dr. Christopher V. Nguyen

Christopher V. Nguyen, M.D. is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Nguyen also received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. While attending Tulane University School of Medicine, Dr. Nguyen was the recipient of the Norman Woody Medical Scholarship and the Hannah Woody Medical Scholarship. Dr. Nguyen completed his post-doctorate Internship and Residency programs at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Nguyen also completed Fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Nguyen is Board-Certified in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Internal Medicine. Dr. Nguyen has also served as an Instructor of Clinical Medicine at The Methodist Hospital/Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York, New York. Dr. Nguyen has served as a member of the Educational and Admissions Committee, Cardiology Division, at Baylor College of Medicine. Some of Dr. Nguyen’s memberships include the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, American College of Cardiology, Vietnamese-American Medical Association of Greater Houston, and American College of Physicians.

Clinical Advisor - Dr. Arjun Saxena

Arjun Saxena, M.D. Rothman Institute Dr. Saxena is a fellowship trained board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty. A Bucks County native, Dr. Saxena enrolled in the prestigious accelerated medical program at Pennsylvania State University for undergrad and Thomas Jefferson Medical College for medical school. He trained in orthopaedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and completed specialized training in Adult Reconstruction at the Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic in Virginia.

Dr. Saxena serves as an editor for numerous orthopaedic journals and is a member of multiple orthopaedic society committees.  His primary focus is on patient education and outcomes.  With a team approach involving the patient and their support system, as well as physical therapists and nurse navigators, he tailors a specific treatment plan for each patient.
